Description
This exciting and complex project at LAX was one of their largest infrastructure updates in their history. Phase 1 involved demolishing part of the existing Terminal 3 central headhouse to create a new four-story grand entrance. It consolidated processing facilities for Terminals 2 and 3 and included the demolition and reconstruction of the Terminal 3 concourse with upgraded baggage handling, hold rooms, offices, and retail spaces. New check-in kiosks, a centralized baggage claim with six carousels, and a centralized security checkpoint with 14 automated screening lanes were also part of Phase 1. Phase 2 included demolishing part of the Terminal 3 Satellite and West Headhouse to create a new West Headhouse and Satellite, which featured holding rooms, ticketing, security, and passenger gates. This phase expanded the baggage handling system and included additional check-in kiosks, baggage claim expansion, and 14 boarding gates.
