Description
The Southern California Consolidation Project (SCCP) served as the new regional headquarters for the California Air Resources Board (CARB), uniting seven sites into one 408,175 SF facility in Riverside, CA. Hosting over 400 employees, the $377 million campus featured cutting-edge vehicle emissions testing labs, research areas, conference spaces, a media center, and a public auditorium. It aimed for LEED Platinum and CALGreen Tier 2 certification, becoming the world’s largest zero net energy facility of its type. The three-story, pinwheel-shaped design enhanced collaboration through vertical and horizontal connectivity, centered around a Central Command Control. The high-performance campus included green spaces and nature walks, supporting both efficiency and well-being. Designed with ZGF Architects, SCCP reached completion in 2021.
